Hey, WarriorBabes. My name’s Shelly [Pollard 00:00:04]. I am 50 years old, and I teach 11th grade students American Literature. I have three kids. Our youngest, we just got the last one through Driver’s Ed this summer, y’all. So, my youngest is 15. I have an 18 year old son. The 15 year old’s a girl, and she’s going to be a sophomore this year. My 18 year old, my baby boy’s taking off to college this summer. So we’re doing a lot of movings. Thank God for WarriorBabe, because I have the energy to do all these moves. My 24 year old daughter, my oldest, she just recently made a move this past weekend. And my husband and I are selling our house, so lots of cleaning and moving.
WarriorBabe, not just given me the energy to do all these moves and keep up with my busy, wonderful, independent children … love them. And now, they’re really proud too. I mean, they’ve always been proud of mom, but now it’s like, “Whoa, mom. Look at your guns.” So obviously, WarriorBabe has impacted me physically, but also mentally and emotionally.
Physically, I’ve lost 11 pounds altogether. But I’ll honest, let’s be honest. I gained eight pounds when my husband and I went on vacation, so that 8 pounds came off kind of quickly. So really, I guess technically, three pounds. But like Nikkiey says, “Don’t look at the scale.” Stop looking at the scale and focus on, how do I feel? How do you feel? How do your clothes fit? Are you seeing the definition?
And let me tell you, holy cow, I’m seeing the definition. I think I’ve posted a few times about, I finally have definition in my arms. I have never had definition in my arms, in all of my 50 years that I can ever remember. I just resolved myself to the fact that, well, I guess I have weak arms. But, no. Heck, no. In fact, that’s the reason. What attracted me, the very first thing that attracted me to this program, was just seeing Nikkiey’s arms. I mean, holy cow. How can anybody look at those arms and not go, “Dang, I want that. I want arms like that.”
So I’m seeing definition everywhere. After the first week, my jean shorts that I just love to wear around the house doing work, the waist was loose, but the butt … I had a butt. That’s the first thing I kept saying all week, “Oh my gosh, I have a butt.” I’ve stopped taking my estrogen supplements. I don’t have night sweats. I am able to deal with stress more easily. And I’m not hungry, like I was in the past.
Last year, I was on a plan that really was focusing on renewing my metabolism. But I couldn’t have carbs, at all. I mean, if I had carbs, it was very, very little. And it was an expensive program. Not just the program really was that expensive, but then getting all that food was very expensive. It mainly focused on 15 to 20 minutes, maybe four times a week of HIIT, high-intensity interval training, just trying to get metabolism.
So of course, I bottomed out really quickly. And the course only lasted for a week, so I’m like, “Well, what do I do? Do I just start the thing over again?” So I lost 25 pounds … Hey, yeah, awesome. But definitely, that was an eye-opener, when Nikkiey talks about being skinny-fat. That was me. Now, this year, even though I’ve lost 11 pounds, I’m probably about 7 pounds heavier than what I was last year, but I feel so much better. And I can see the definition in my arms, and in my butt, and in my abs and all over the place. I’m even seeing definition in my legs, which I’ve always had good legs, but, wow, holy cow.
Totally recommend this program. Learning to trust the process, even though some days, it’s not 100%. You’re not always going to feel like, “Yeah, I can’t wait to hit that gym.” Or, “Yeah, I can’t wait to hit those weights.” But you trust the process, trust the process, trust the process. And by the way, Nikkiey, I love the books you suggested. I’ve already through the first three. I noticed you added one, going to go back and get that one and read it too.
